GYPSY SWING GUITARS

Gypsy Swing guitar - Busato Model

BUSATO

As with "Selmer" guitars, some musicians entrusted to us their "Busato" models for restoration. This allowed us to examine and analyze them in detail.
With that experience and complete knowledge of the gipsy guitars, we are the leader in this style of instrument. So it is natural that we have been asked to re-create these models. Having identified the ideal characteristics from the guitars that have passed through our hands, and registered the brand and model, we currently offer a complete range.

The soundboard is in sitka spruce, with French spruce as an alternative, the finger board in ebony; the width of the neck is 44,5 mm at the nut. The body join the neck at the 14th fret, the scale is 670 mm and the truss rod is accessible from the soundhole. Some models have gold machine heads, a nickel-plated "BB" type tailpiece, with arch back in mahogany, rosewood or maple.

All models are available for left-handed players at no extra cost.

Gypsy Swing guitar - Old Reserve

OLD RESERVE

Having repaired many "Selmer" and "Maccaferri" type guitars, including re-building missing or broken pieces, we had the idea of making a guitar in the same spirit of those restorations.
Thus the Dupont "Vieille Reserve" model was born.
It is the most exact replica of the "Selmer" jazz guitar. All our know-how and most seasoned woods have gone into the creation of this exceptional instrument.

The dimensions are the same as the "Selmer" type guitar. Similary, we use the same species of woods; the back and sides are in laminated Indian rosewood.

This model is finished with a nitro-shellac mixture applied with spray gun after filling the pores by hand. The machine heads and tailpiece marked DM, are designed and built in our workshop; they are exact copies of the original.

Each Veille Reserve guitar is numbered and delivered with a certificate of authentification and a bottle of Cognac.

Gypsy Swing guitar - Special Model

SPECIAL

Inspired by our own imagination, or at the specific request of a customer, we occasionally create instruments which differ in various ways from existing models.

Thus instruments like the "Romane" (commissioned by Romane himself) or unique models with marquetry and mother of pearl are conceived.

Whilst unique instruments remain exceptional pieces, the "Romane" is now included in our catalogue and has become a Dupont "Signature" instrument.
